 Apologies for the lack of chatter lately. As some of you may know, I've been on my travels. Just returned from Sydney, New York and LA on Monday on an "educational" tour (no really, I did actually learn something!) After a bitter loss at the Big Idea Advertising Competition in Sydney, we worked our way around all the leading Ad Agencies and Design Studios in the big appley thing. Ogilvy, JWT and Landor (my favourite) were among the stops, whilst also boosting the US economy through generous amounts of shopping. Pictures to follow... Anyway, quick reminder (insert drumroll). Edith Cowan presents Design 09, a visual feast of student Graphic and Interior Design opening TONIGHT (yes you heard correctly) at 6pm.  As part of the Perth Semi-Permanent, AGDA have invited any and every local designer to produce a Mono A0 Self-Promotional poster for themselves. This not only gets displayed at the SP event next month, but gets pasted around the lonely back-alleys of this fine city, hopefully to be observed by some wealthy art-director, willing to offer me a high-flying employment opportunity, with bonus company car, laptop and social perks...thats the hope anyway...    Sup sup. Been working on compiling my portfolio lately. Decided to roll with this cyan/white combo and my favourite font of the moment, VAL (seems to be filtering into most of my designs lately!) The final product will be on display at the ECU Graduation Show, 26th November...pencil this date in your diary peoples. Some top-notch work PLUS free food and drinks! Do we have a deal?  Apologies for my distinct lack of updates recently...whoever said this student-thing was easy was a blatant liar! Anyway, wanted to give y'all a sneak peak at some typography I'm currently refining. 'Cutie' (don't ask!) was conceived just a few days ago - final letterforms being completed as we speak so watch this space for "el grande alphabet." Finally submitted the finished work for the 'Big Idea 09' advertising competition this morning aswell (see I have been working, honest!). Top 3 national teams get to present to the big guys Sydney-side...suits, nerves, boardrooms etc, you get the idea. Maybe slightly optimistic booking flights already but hey ho, confidence is key!  Word up...one of my design pieces has been chosen to be published in the upcoming 'Semi Permanent' Design '09 book. Exciting news! But when is this book available, I hear you ask. Mid-October methinks, so keep your ear to the ground and eyes on the shelves.
